October 4 - 7 (8am - 12pm PT)

Introductory SWAT Workshop (QSWAT):

QSWAT is a public domain software, developed by USDA-ARS USDA-ARS and Texas A&M AgriLife Research to simulate hydrological processes (quality and quantity of surface and ground water) in basins and predict the environmental impact of land use, land management practices and climate change. It is the QGIS interface for SWAT (the Soil and Water Assessment Tool) primarily designed to predict the impact of land management practices on water, sediment and chemistry in large complex watersheds with varying soils, land use and management conditions over long periods of time.

SWAT defines hydrology by a specific list of parameters including interception, evapotranspiration, surface runoff, lateral flow, soil percolation and ground water flow as well as river routing processes.

This workshop will introduce new users to the model, review necessary and optional inputs, and familiarize them with the interface. It is assumed that attendees have a working knowledge of GIS and will not review basic concepts on GIS usage prior to covering the SWAT interface.

October 12 - 15 (8am - 12pm PT)

Advanced SWAT Workshop (SWAT-CUP):

SWAT-CUP is a Calibration Uncertainty Program designed for SWAT models. The program is used to perform calibration, validation, sensitivity analysis (one-at-a- time, and global) and uncertainty analysis. It links SUFI2, GLUE, ParaSol, MCMC, and PSO to SWAT and has graphical features which allow observing simulation results, uncertainty range, sensitivity graphs, watershed visualization using Bing map, and statistical reports.
